Hi! Butterfliesandmoths.org has great regional checklists that you can search through. If you venture into the bay area, Art Shapiro’s website is another great resource. Thanks for visiting!
I just wanted to wish you luck with your endeavors in building a butterfly house in Reno. It is an awesome idea. I used to work at the butterfly pavilion at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and then joined the army and had two intense deployments to Afghanistan. While doing my military service overseas and watching Parnassius butterflies in the Hindu Kush mts., and doing some collecting here in the Fort Campbell, KY/TN, I realized that I need to do some collecting back out west. I did live in Reno for 4 years, but didn’t do much collecting at the time. Is there a way to get a checklist of butterflies in the area? I’m hoping to head back there this summer and do some collecting in the area. Thank you for any advice.
I was just meeting with Julie Stoughton at UNR and she was telling me about your project. I am an AP Environmental Science teacher at Reno High and very interested in getting the school and my class involved. I will put your upcoming events on my calendar and hopefully we can get my students involved and perhaps volunteer some time with the project.
Hi Scott, We’d love to get your students involved and come out to the butterfly house! We’ll be sure to follow up with an email shortly, thanks so much for your interest!
Hi,
I’m trying to locate (on the net) a list of butterflies in Northern Nevada? Do you have any sites you can recommend?
Thanks
