Hello!
Congratulations on your new nonprofit. I heard about you during the Odyssey, I would love to volunteer. How can I get involved? I would also love more information on native bees in the area. Such as are they currently in decline or being affected like the honey bees? If so are there any steps we can take to help support them.
Thank you!
Cindy de Leon
Hi Cindy! So glad you’re interested. We would love to have volunteers come out to the house on open days and help us with visitors, or you can help by raising plants, or other things depending on your interest. We will follow up with an email. Also, there are some great websites available on native bees, like http://www.pollinator.org/beeissues.htm and http://www.xerces.org/pollinator-conservation/native-bees/, and even a poster at http://www.pollinator.org/NativeBees.htm. We will also be doing events all this coming week for National Pollinator Week (see our latest post on our main page), including an event Friday night at the Great Basin Food Co-op 5:30-7:30 dedicated to bee biology and conservation. You should definitely check it out!
Thank you! I am extremely interested in volunteering with raising plants and would love to volunteer in helping with visitors. Thank you for the information and links about native bees. Hope you meet you all soon.
much love.
